Dumbfounded One

Trying to understand it all.

Fitna – You tell me

“THE HAGUE (AFP) – An Internet site said Saturday it had removed anti-Islam film “Fitna” by far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders after receiving threats to its staff amid protests by Muslim nations and the UN chief. The Britain-based Liveleak.com said it pulled down the video, which can still be seen on other websites, including youtube.com. The film was posted to the Internet on Thursday. “Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove ‘Fitna’ from our servers,” the site said in a statement. “Fitna” features violent imagery of terror attacks in New York and Madrid intertwined with Koranic texts.

In an interview with AFP on Friday, Wilders rejected responsibility for any retaliation against Dutch nationals or interests abroad. “I hope it doesn’t happen but even if it does the people who commit such acts are responsible, not me,” he said, pointing to a quiet first night in the Netherlands. Fearing a repeat of violent clashes that followed the publication in 2005 of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed in Danish newspapers, the Dutch government has distanced itself from Wilders’ film and Islamic leaders there have called for calm. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday joined Muslim nations in expressing outrage over the film. Ban called Wilders’ film offensive while Iran and Bangladesh warned it could have grave consequences and Pakistan protested to the Dutch ambassador.”

Pulled video……. (a thank you)

Fitna…. the video….

Two Parts (I’m posting the English version, as opposed to the Dutch version)

Keep in mind, even though I have my own opinions on this subject, I am not passing judgment on a people as a whole. Just as I don’t believe that all Americans are represented by George Bush Jr.

  1. The truth about Islam comes straight from the mouths of Muslims….so they have no right to say it is distorted or wrong.

  2. Since Islamophobia is spreading around the Western world it seems to be normal to lump 1,8 billion Muslims worldwide together with a small radical group of Islamists…

Wilders “produced” a very bad made amateur propaganda film…

  3. Isamaphobia is one of perception. Its actual origin is not from people who “fear” islam. Its origin is from the muslims themselves, who are afraid of others criticizing Islamic acts of terrorism, so they want to refocus blame on potential victims. It is an act of denial that there is anything wrong with Islam. It is also a movement so that people will ignore terrorist acts, and just assume everything is ok because “most” muslims are not terrorists.

This film is about terrorists…so the muslims who are uncomfortable with the film need to put an end to the terrorism and then there will be nothing to make films about.

  4. It have become common place these days while discussing the evil of Islam, to pick a verse here, a passage there, take them out of context and turn the religion into some kind of monster. We could do the same with any religious text, old and new testament… Wilders focused on these clerics who use those passages to incite violence but he ignored all the other inmans and clerics worldwide who interpret the same passages in another way…

Teach peace if you want peace, teach violence if you want violence and in every religious book you will find peaceful as well as violent passages…
People always need a “cloak” for their hateful actions, some use a religious book, others hear the voice of God, others does it under the cloak of free speech, they use fear or the slogan to “bring freedom” as justification for wars…

“Brainwashing” seems to be very easy these days on every side.

  5. Then let the peace begin with Muslims.

    Not just talk, but actions.

Let us see them stop the terrorism.

They have the numbers, and the power to do so, if they are sincere.

  6. I hope they do…

Last week, 10,000 Muslim clerics conferenced in Deoband, India, the 2nd seat of Islamic learning in the world after Al-Azhar University in Cairo….

Leaders, of the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference, which represents 1.5 billion Muslims across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, made the “Dakar Declaration” after a two-day summit in Senegal.

“We continue to strongly condemn all forms of extremism and dogmatism which are incompatible with Islam, a religion of moderation and peaceful coexistence,” the declaration said.

The Muslim body condemned acts of terrorism committed in the name of Islam….

I posted some links on my blog.

Have a great week Marianne! 😉
